We’re delighted to announce that Simon Reid, Investment Director at VAR Capital, has been awarded Mentor of the Year at the GAIN awards.
GAIN (Girls Are INvestors) was founded to champion gender equality in the next generation of investment professionals by providing a platform for learning, development and networking. Set up by investment professionals, GAIN’s goal is to create opportunities for female and non-binary young people to enter the industry. Since 2023,
The mentoring programs are a key piece of the work GAIN does to promote investment interest and education for young women and non-binary students. Simon has been involved with school teams in the ‘GAIN Investment Challenge’, university students in the ‘GAIN Investment Insight Programme’ and is now mentoring an intern in the ‘GAIN Empower Investment Internship Programme’.

“Simon has been amazing mentor over the last 10-weeks. Within our sessions Simon helped to deep-dive into certain topics, specifically valuation which we all found quite daunting. Simon took time out of his weekends, evenings and work days to meet with us, which shows his true commitment to being a mentor, being active on our group chat and instantly responding to our queries, even on the day of our stock pitch. I think he has been a brilliant Mentor and is much deserving of this award.”
